Erin + Dan

{From the Bride}

Dan & I met in nursing school at Florida State University, and our relationship continued to grow over the many years and travels. On our six year anniversary, he proposed to me at a mountain cabin just north of Atlanta, Ga, where we lived at the time. After traveling across the country twice, and becoming engaged, Dan joined the Air Force, where we were stationed in California. We were together for a total of 7 1/2 years before officially becoming Mr & Mrs.

During the initial stages of wedding planning, we both were envisioning an outdoor venue, and our hopes were high for a gorgeous setting, as we knew the majority of our guests would be traveling from out of state. We wanted to offer our guests an opportunity for a travel destination while highlighting some of the best qualities of California. The moment we stepped onto the property of Still Waters Vineyards, we instantly fell in love. I remember standing on the steps of the bridal cottage, looking out at the olive grove surrounded by vineyard views, and I felt myself catch my breath.

As the wedding planning continued, all the pieces began to fall into place. A DIY design with touches of shabby chic and vintage designs, we kept to a neutral color scheme, hoping to compliment the beautiful setting and not take away from it. We wanted an elegant event while still allowing our guests to feel comfortable enough to kick off their shoes and relax while sipping wine under the stars.

We began with our ceremony under the ancient olive grove, overlooking the lush, beautiful vineyard. We worked together along with our officiant to tailor the ceremony to our wants and needs, and to make it more personal.

We integrated different Filipino and Catholic traditions like the cord & veil ceremony from my husbands heritage, along with the blessing and binding of hands. As the ceremony concluded, our guests enjoyed cocktail hour under the olive grove with acoustic music performed by a local musician of the area.

As the reception began, a rare occasion for California, we received a light sprinkle of rain, and we were then blessed with a beautiful double rainbow reaching across the vineyard. It was absolutely stunning! The glow of the sunset along with the rainbow was piercing, and as the sun went down, string lights glowed overhead to set the mood. With our guests sipping delicious wine and enjoying local/seasonal, made from scratch dinner and desserts, we danced the night away!

Our guests each received personalized thank you cards tucked in their napkin along with an olive branch from our ceremony site, and they were gifted a personal bottle of local Paso Robles olive oil. With a lavender toss to the end the night, we waved goodbye to our guests and hello to our future as we drove off in a beautiful baby blue vintage jaguar. Officially our best day ever!
