Whisked Away Cake Boutique
Whisked Away Cake Boutique is the concept of Pastry Chef and Artist Calli Cohn. Her love of all things sweet began at a very early age but her journey to becoming a cake artist was a road filled with a lot of trial and error and took a bit more time. Calli attended The School of The Art Institute of Chicago and graduated in 2004 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts, but life in the arts was unpredictable and searching for more stable work led her to working at several different bakeries over the years. In the fall of 2009 she was still feeling unfulfilled by her work and she took this opportunity to think about what kind of career she could really excel at. This led to her enrolling at the prestigious French Pastry School in Chicago where in the summer of 2010 she received L’art Du Patisserie certificate. At FPS she learned classic French pastry techniques from World Pastry Champions and Master Cake Artists, such as Nicholas Lodge. While in pastry school she also interned for one of Chicago’s best cake artists, The Sugar Syndicate, where she received valuable advice and specialty skills. After pastry school she still yearned for more knowledge about cake decorating and participated in classes at the iconic Wilton headquarters, located just outside of Chicago, studying with notable cake artist Colette Peters. Calli had finally acquired the perfect arsenal of skills, knowledge, and inspiration to lead her to what she knows will be a lifelong career. After spending almost ten years in Chicago, Calli imagined no better place to open her visionary cake boutique than in her hometown of Omaha, NE. Whisked Away Cake Boutique’s mission is to create the most visually intriguing and best tasting cakes and sweets you have ever experienced. All of the cakes and desserts are made from scratch using the finest ingredients available and all of the decorations are completely hand made. The cakes are truly edible pieces of art. All of the aspects of making cakes and sweets are so enjoyable for Calli that she cannot imagine doing anything else. She especially enjoys being able to be a part of people’s special occasions and cannot wait to be a part of yours!
